European Solidarity Corps
The long-term goal of the project is to acquire competences and promote volunteer work for the community well-being in the area of environmental and nature protection and to establish better cooperation between active participants in society.
The project’s short-term goals are:
1. To enable volunteers to acquire new skills (communicational, organizational and administrative) and knowledge by learning through teamwork and the development of social and ecological awareness;
2. Improve the quality of work of Public Institution by integrating new working methods into everyday activities, creating a modern and dynamic working environment and developing European co-operation;
3. Contribute to the development of nonprofit projects and active participation, and connect people through group activities for the benefit of the local community.
With the Nature Conservation Project we want to gather the volunteers from different countries and individuals from the local community on group activities, where we will deal with identifying natural resources, educating them and raising the level of ecological and social awareness. Concrete results of all project activities will be workshops for the local population with special focus on children and youth, workshops with associations and local government, project brochure. We will use the informal learning tools – we will create a small garden with healing and edible herbs. This project aim is to promote solidarity through socially beneficial activities in the local community that improves the quality of life and the level of social capital through the promotion of active citizenship by utilizing the potential of the community and contributes to positive changes aimed at strengthening solidarity and protecting the environment / biodiversity
The main activity of the project is Nature Protection and it is divided into 5 smaller activities.
Primarily, the project is about educating young people and children from the local community, associations and local government. In addition to the classical methods of education (workshops, summer schools, presentations), an informal learning tool will also be used – with the help of volunteers from the local community we will build a small garden with edible and healing herbs. Apart form education for local community, volunteers will participate in education by the Public Institution and they will have the possibility to actively join the community by helping the elderes people The project encompasses 15 volunteers or young people with fewer opportunities (geographical and economic obstacles).
PROJECT/ACTIVITIES DURATION: 1.7.2019.-19.8.2019. (7 weeks)
NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS PER PARTNER: Cyprus – 5 volunteers
TRAVEL COST PER PARTNER: Cyprus – 275 EUR per volunteer
POCKET MONEY PER VOLUNTEER – 5 EUR per day (altogether each volunteer will get 260 EUR for pocket money)
MONEY FOR FOOD – 4 EUR per day (altogether each volunteer will get 200 EUR for food)
ACCOMMODATION: 2 FAMILY HOUSES NEAR CAVE PARK AND CITY PERUŠIĆ (1,5km). ONE HOUSE IS FOR 6 VOLUNTEERS AND THE OTHER ONE (200m from the first house) IS FOR 9 VOLUNTEERS.
