About The Project

“Belonging to Nature: the Heart of Wellbeing” is a strategic partnership project within the Erasmus plus program of the European Commission. The partners are 6 organizations from Iceland, Spain, Slovenia, Portugal, Cyprus and Belgium, who are working together in co creating innovative knowledge and practices to foster wellbeing and nature connection in young people through Youth Work. In practical form, we are writing a book, both theory and practical manual that will be published in free access by the end of 2022 as well as we have designed a unique training programme, that we invite you to become part of.

Aim of the project

Our aim is to develop integral knowledge and practices that can contribute to recovering the deep psychosomatic awareness of being part of the Earth (nature-connection), which implicates an ecological awakening and restoration of our relationships with the natural world. We aim to support youth workers and educators to provide young people with opportunities for enhancing their capacities for wellbeing and socionatural responsibilities in a more-than- human-world. We understand wellbeing as a capacity to adapt to changes and new ecological conditions in regenerative and creative ways for thriving life. We will work in a holistic manner by including in our journey the three dimensions of human agency represented by “Heads, Hearts & Hands”, which means that we aim to explore cognitive/intellectual concepts, emotional/intuitive insights, and embodied/active expressions of our unique and personal connection with nature and wellbeing, and how we can communicate and guide others in their own journey of discovery.

Journey of the Project

This training journey consists of two residential training courses in Slovenia and in Iceland with a mentorship program in between, where you will be supported
by one of us, helping you reflect on your learning and use some of the methodologies learned in the first training in your local community and in your work with young people.

The first training course will take place in Slovenia from the 23d to the 30th of May 2022 (travel days included) and will focus on weaving a common
understanding and experiencing the methods and practices proposed. The mentorship program consists in applying some of the practices in your locality during the months of June-July-August 2022 to experience in your own way the process of sharing and guiding others in this process. Afterwards, the second training course will take place in Iceland from the 31st of August to the 7th of September 2022 (travel days included) and will focus on group and individual reflections, sharing best practices and enhancing our awareness and mutual understanding of Belonging to Nature.

The training journey is designed for 24 participants from Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Iceland, Belgium (4 per each country). Target Group: Youth workers and related practitioners that work directly with young people. We wish to work with people who are motivated to learn about
these topics and who are ready to commit to the whole journey. Main working language: English.

Eligible to participate in this project are only Cypriots and/or Cypriot residents.
4 Participants 18+ ood and accommodation are fully covered by the project and the traveling cost up to 275 euro
