About the project:

Far and beyond with digital storytelling is a youth exchange that will be brought together Europeans from 8 countries (Slovakia, Cyprus, Spain, Lithuania, Italy, North Macedonia, Turkey and Croatia). The project will take place in Nitra in Spring 2023. Through this project, we would like to address the problem of social exclusion of youngsters from rural areas by giving them a concrete opportunity for personal and professional development.

The opportunity can be offered by a specific tool which is digital storytelling and its benefits. It will be used as an instrument for social inclusion and social development specifically to address the problem of marginalisation and lack of participation of people from rural areas and, in this field, we are oriented to the needs of young people with fewer opportunities: youngsters from rural and isolated areas; youngsters with low income and early school leavers.

Activities:

Thanks to a peer-to-peer approach youngsters from rural and isolated areas will meet to bring creative solutions to tackle current problems, therefore the solutions will be found from youngsters for youngsters. Non-formally based activities will follow these goals:

To develop new and transferable skills and knowledge in participants, in the field of digital storytelling: this objective will be reached especially thanks to workshops and activities related to the creation of the videos, workshops about storytelling, online and offline promotion, storytelling, and creation of the comics. The participants will also get in contact with several entities and organizations that work in this field, through the research they will do before the project.
To promote the recognition of different backgrounds and abilities, especially for those with fewer opportunities: this objective is connected with inclusion and acceptance of different backgrounds and abilities. Starting from the preparation of the participants they will learn about intercultural differences and will have workshops about intercultural dialogue. During the exchange, the participants will stay in an intercultural environment with people from different cultures and will become more open-minded and ready to discover more about other cultures in the future.
To equip youth workers and young leaders with competences and methods for their professional development, including for digital youth work, needed for transferring the common fundamental values of our society: this will be done starting from the preparation done by each partner in which the participants will start creating a safe space within their national group.

Participants’ profile:

4 participants aged 18-25 and 1 group leader 20 – 35 years old.

Eligible to participate in this project are only Cypriots and/or Cypriot residents.
Food and accommodation are fully covered by the project and the travelling cost is up to €275
