How to survive real life? (Positions Fulfilled)

25th February 2019 – 2nd March  2019

Idrija, Slovenia

Youth Exchange

Project Summary

How to survive real life? is youth exchange combing 5 different countries (Netherlands, Poland, Croatia, Cyprus and Slovenia). From each country 6 participants and 1 group leader will come to Idrija. We will include motivated youngsters from 15 to 18 years old. Many young people think that education system is not preparing them for the real word. School system is forgetting that pupils need to learn different skills rather than learning facts, since the facts are only a click away. Activities in Youth centers can help filling that gap in learning competences. Youth exchange How to survive real life? is a perfect opportunity for young people who would like to learn more about project management, working in groups, non-formal education and/or reflection techniques. As a result of this exchange, we will be able to see more competent young people. They would be able to share gained knowledge in local communities, they will also be encouraged by a small task, which they will receive after exchange. Participants will also be encouraged to share their experiences on social media, newspapers etc. Youth exchange will be a starting point for creation of program for youth in 21st century in youth centers and other youth organizations.

Project Goals

Through this exchange we want to prepare participant with “21st century” competences so that they will be able to face complex challenges now and in the future. These competences – critical knowledge, communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation – are skills that help children and youth to reach their full potential and are
great addition to the core learning in school subjects. We would like to create a group of youth, who will also help organizing the exchange. We would like that activities would be tailored to their needs and wishes. Through exchange participants will be engaged in diverse activities improving their communication and collaboration skills, they will be faced with challenges, and critical thinking will be encouraged through environmental topics such as Zero waste movement. At the end of the exchange participants will also share their knowledge with other youth by preparing small activity for youth in Youth center Idrija
